Reward nominations needed by the end of WEDNESDAY 21/9

Marvellous Mathematicians and 3Rs (Names only)

Occasionally you may spot someone suitable for Random Acts of Kindness and Remarkable RE. Both require detail to be shared too.

__________________________________________________________________________

Prayer focus this week: We pray for those involved in Missionary Work – particularly the Columban Missionaries currently in Pakistan – helping those in greatest need from the awful flooding whilst trying to share the word of God. (Consider – do the children know what a Missionary is? A person sent on a mission to share their faith, usually in a foreign country. From the Latin Mittere – to send)

COVID PROTOCOLS

FAQ’s

Q – When do I test for COVID? If you are symptomatic – i.e.temperature or cough

Q – Do I test if I have been in proximity with someone who has tested positive? No – only if you are ill.

Q – If a child is off due to Covid, do we have to provide online learning? No – as the time off remains 3 days you should send them a message directing them to online resources or links you gave in your newsletter.

________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________

LA Baseline Assessment week this week –  All assessments must be completed during this week. There is a 2 day window of 26/27 Sept to catch up any absentees. There should therefore be no missing data (unless you have a long term absentee). The tests, spreadsheets and instructions are on the shared planning drive in the folder called ‘ Local Authority Tests’

_________________________________________________________________________

Energy savings – MAC Directive:

  • Turn off your classroom lights when the room is not in use/when you leave the building
  • Close blinds and windows when leaving, to conserve heat energy
  • Switch off appliances (no boards should be on standby)
  • Close down laptops properly – this protects the life of the battery and prevents energy costly rebooting

Thank you

______________________________________________________________________

Thank you so much for the comments in the book of condolence – some made me chuckle, some highlighted the excellent prayer writing skills that some of our pupils have and they certainly demonstrated the children’s faith and hope of the promise of heaven. This book is now over at Church for the weekend and a laminated sheet of excerpt has been taken to Windsor by one of our families this weekend.

Marvellous Mathematicians, 3Rs and virtues by Wednesday afternoon please.

__________________________________________________________________________

Prayer tables return to GREEN on Monday 10th January. Please involve Liturgical Leaders with the changing of the cloth if you have them. All Christmas decorations should now be down.

__________________________________________________________________________

New Virtues – CURIOUS AND ACTIVE – please spot this for recognition

Pupils are growing to be curious about everything; and active in their engagement with the world, changing what they can for the better.
What does this mean?
Catholic schools help their pupils grow by leading pupils to be curious about the universe and all human activity, and to take increasing responsibility for their own learning,
and by providing opportunities for them to be active in the life of the school, the Church and the wider community.

__________________________________________________________________________

Prayer focus this week: For the sick and those that care for them – Please raise this AT LEAST ONCE during the week as part of your daily prayer routines. Many pupils will have their own worries and might like to share personal intentions,

______________________________________________________________________

COVID PROTOCOLS – additional guidance has been received and detailed information can be found on the website. However, here is an overview of the changes and some reminders:

Headlines (New = red)

Visitors

Visitors protocol – ONLY regular visitors (i.e Music School, Soccer 2000, College placements), those whose service is vital to learning or well being of pupils (i.e. EP) or school improvement are invited into school and have to have LFT tested, wear a mask as per staff and provide track and trace information. They must inform the school if they have tested positive for up to 10 days after visit.

Visitors to the school office must wear a mask. Parents directed to communicate via phone and email rather than visiting office wherever possible.

Testing

If you test positive on an LFT then isolation starts immediately and no PCR follow-up is required, IF YOU ARE ASYMPTOMATIC. If you are SYMPTOMATIC then a PCR is also advised.

Staff and pupils return to school from day 7 if they had a negative LFT on both days. Pupils are asked to continue LTF testing on day 8, 9 and 10 if they return at this earlier stage.

Staff isolating but well enough to do so are expected to work from home.

If you have been a close contact of someone who is positive and are at least double vaccinated, you do not isolate. Instead LFT test for 7 days.

Absence not Covid related – if a child (or adult) is off with illness other than Covid, they should LFT test negative before their return. If they do not test, they will not be able to return until 48 hours after feeling well.

LFT tests CAN now be taken if you have had Covid in the last 90 days.

Ventilation

If CO2 monitors are demonstrating a concern with your class ventilation that is not solved through intermittent door opening, or the solution makes learning untenable, inform TD as a mechanical ventilation system may be required.

Residential visits

Residential visits can take place as long as Risk Assessments are agreed by MAC. Parents are expected to be able to collect their child if there are any concerns of illness.

Maintaining hygiene

Systems and procedures must remain in place for maintaining hygiene, including hand washing and the provision of an isolation space. This means that the JC room remains out of use (unless discussed with TD/MB) and the disabled toilet remains the Covid space (this CAN be used for dealing with toileting accidents as this also involves cleaning procedures but MUST NOT be used by staff members – STAFF TOILET ONLY PLEASE). This is so that you are not touching uncleaned, contaminated surfaces.

Masks

Masks remain an essential protective measure. It remains staff choice if they wear them in classrooms but they MUST be worn in communal areas and corridors. Social distancing also remains important and meeting will be scheduled with this in mind. Young pupils should not be wearing masks however Y5/6 pupils could chose to do so.

__________________________________________________________________________

Y5 pupils start swimming on Wednesday – letters sent to parents last week.

__________________________________________________________________________

Curriculum Newsletters – due to TD (EYFS/KS1)/MB (KS2) by the end of Wednesday for proofing. Please ensure that you have included RSE topics/timetable.

__________________________________________________________________________

ACCELERATE CLASSES AND CLUBS BEGIN THIS WEEK PLEASE Accelerate timings, groups and staff1.22

__________________________________________________________________________

PSHE Session – Mental Health – all resources have been sent to you. It is up to you when to deliver this session this week – approx 1 hour needed. I will also be sending a link to a class assessment to be completed once fininshed.

__________________________________________________________________________

Outdoor games in cold weather:

Pupils can wear additional base layers, they can wear a hat during PE as long as it is secure and they can also wear a school fleece over the top of their cardigan. Unfortunately, wearing a coat does not work as it restricts the movement that they need to have in games.

Tuesday 11.1.22 VM out

Please be aware, when there is a covid positive case in your class (Teachers are informed via email) then we are sending out an information letter to parents advising them to LFT for 7 days as a LIKELY close contact. As staff in the room, you can determine if you also class as a close contact and can also test daily rather than 2x per week. We have chosen to do this in the absence of track and trace informing children when they have been a close contact. It is an additional safety measure rather than an increased level of concern. See the letter attached which is amended for classes/case dates. Daily LFD test example
